Random Thoughts

It's Friday again - I am so glad! This week was certainly a long one. I have been so busy with work, and sewing my granddaughters Alphabet Book as I have talked about many times on my W.I.P. Wednesday posts. I have all of the blocks done- I am now assembling the book. I need to get it done and off to my daughter in two weeks so that it will arrive in time for my granddaughter's birthday! I will post pictures when it is finished. It has definitely been a "labor" of love. I have had lots of fun making it - but I haven't been able to concentrate on much of anything else that has needed to be done around my house!

Due to my lack of posting, I have noticed I am losing some of my readers! "Followers" seems like such a conceited term to use. Every time a new person decides to follow my blog, I look at them as a new friend! I look forward to getting to know that person as much as they want to get to know me! I have been severely lacking in this lately though. For those of you who have been discouraged by my lack of posting, or lack of variety, I apologise. Sometimes life gets in the way, and rather than blather on about the day to day grind that I find myself in, I sometimes crawl inward and get quiet. Because this IS a weblog of my life though - I need to be better about putting my thoughts down instead of keeping them in my head. That is after all why I decided to start blogging in the first place! The blogs I love to read the most, are the ones who share their heart on a regular basis - why do I seem to have a problem doing that?

For those of you who have stuck it out with me through this, THANK YOU! I really do value your friendship - I will try to be a better friend in turn.

Question for you:

What is it that draws you most to a blog? What do you enjoy reading about? What keeps you coming back for more? I would love some input or direction - you can be blunt - I can take it! I would really love your comments on this - and thank you in advance!

Blessings,
Kymber

Kymber, there's a wide variety of blogs I read because each one is so different. I started out going to decorator blogs, and I fell into a nest of lovely bloggers who love their homes and families. I also like blogs where people share those with us. I like blogs where people share their creativity... be it sewing or decorating or crafting or photography or writing or painting or cooking. I like blogs where people share their faith. I tend to visit the blogs who visit me, and I try to visit all of my followers on a regular basis and follow all the blogs that follow me and some who don't. :-)

Hope that helps! Oh, and I always look forward to seeing what you're up to in life.

XO,

Sheila :-)

I feel the same way about my followers. They're my friends! I've been having a problem with followers as well, some days the number changes and not going higher! I wrote about it on my blog as well. Hey, life happens. We all can't be expected to write every single day and if someone gets upset about that, I don't know what to say! I like your blog, enjoy hearing about your day, what you're working on, etc. And I love the inspirational stories you share as well. Looking forward to seeing the project completed!!!

I follow your blog anonymously. That way if for some reason I can't get by and comment, then I don't feel so guilty for not showing up. That's my problem, not yours. I mean, the guilty feeling part. I don't have a blog so there is no quid pro quo to consider. You don't have to follow me, because I have nothing to follow.

I will borrow the title to Alton Brown's book "I'm Just Here For The Food" and change it to say "I'm Just Here For The Pleasure".

Your blog is always uplifting to my spirit. I really enjoyed the muffin recipe a week or so ago. I made it with light whole wheat flour instead of AP flour, but they turned out wonderful anyway, despite my mistake. I am not a good seamstress, but love to admire other's handiwork. Since I don't attend a Church, I come here for my Sunday devotional. I always leave your blog with a smile on my face.

If some are not happy with your blog, in my opinion, you are better off without them. They say an author should write about what they know about and have experience with. That is all you can or should do, I think.

To me a blog is like a diary you are allowing others to read. Thank you for your insight into a blended family. You may not always agree with each other, but you will always be a family. Just never quit sharing.

Thank you all for your kind words. I will definitely continue to share my heart and hopefully BE a friend to you, as you have all been friends to me.
Blessings to all,
Kymber

I like blogs with photos - but also with good writing to go along with them. I like most themse - though not too much into only pet posts - I like to hear about the whole person and their whole life.

Nature intriques me, also craftiness - and a little about family - not TMI as the kids say. Politics and religion can be iffy - I'm not on either side - just prefer my own opinions I guess (which is my problem, not the blog writer's problem)

Now I'm going to go back and read your blog - thanks for stopping over to visit mine.

I too feel my followers are my friends....I get really excited when I have someone start following my blog.
I like blogs that post about 3 times a week. If a blog hasn't posted in a month...I delete them from my sidebar
as a favorite.
What attracts me to a blog is pictures, recipes, crafts, and decorating ideas.
Hope this helps...Julie

According to your first post, you started blogging to make new friends and to stay connected with your family. Well, looking at your list of followers, I think you have accomplished that. :) Don't worry about the numbers. Friends come and go. Such is life. Remember, they came for a reason. Connecting with you in some way as you speak of things important to you. I say, keep doing what you're doing and happy blogging!
